Our holiday..

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We spent ours with Derrick's family in SC on Thursday, then on Friday we spent all day looking around for things to buy and got home finally around 8 that night. We didn't buy too much stuff, so Derrick is happy! We did have a good time though. Today we spent just about all day at my grandparents for our annual stew. It turned out great, as usual. I still smell like stew, it just seems to linger on and on. We managed to get our Christmas tree and decorations up this evening. I just love putting it all up, it makes everything so pretty!! And my favorite part - every year after Christmas, I always buy a "few" new things on clearance for the next year and forget about it until like tonight, when I start to decorate. It's goofy - but I get so excited to see all the new stuff I forgot about - it's my early Christmas present to myself! Our big thing this year will be trying to keep Natalie out of the tree. Fun, Fun! As long as our tree doesn't topple over, I'll be OK. I can't say the same for Derrick though.

Happy 13th Taylor!

Today, I have become something different. It happended so fast, too fast!! I don't think I'm prepared! I changed from young to old, from you can come, to just wait in the car waaaay across the parking lot. Now I hear, I'm OK - You'll be alright Mommy! I’ve become…a Teenager’s Mom!!! AAAAGGHH!

I hope that’s not how it works – but anyway – Happy 13th Birthday to my baby boy, my 'lil man, my hero – Taylor, who is an official teenager today, growing up into quite the well-rounded young man! I will try my best today not to cry like I do every year on his birthday, but I know I'm going to fail this!! I’m so proud of him and very fortunate that God blessed me with him. I know that God has plans for Taylor and pray that he will seek his will everyday, and we all know that is a hard thing to do, especially at this age and time of day!

He's so grown up now, but he'll always be my Baby!!

Here's just a few of my favorite pics:

Awe Man!

Natalie has learned some new phrases. Last night I was cooking supper, it was just me and her, cause the boys have karate on Monday and Thursday. She was drinking her juice box and about half way through she started taking the straw out, handing it to me and saying something I couldn't make out. She kept on doing this for the longest time, in and out and then it hit me what she was saying...she would take the straw out, look at me, try to hand me the straw and say "Awe Man" - it was the cutest thing. So of course, I made her keep doing it over and over again until the boys finally got home. Oh and she's now saying, when she burps - "Excuse You". It's so amazing at all the things she's picking up, she's like a little sponge!

FOCA Petition

I saw this on my sisters site and I have also signed the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) Petition here as well!

Fight FOCA Petition

I oppose the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA), because:

FOCA is a radical attempt to enshrine abortion-on-demand into American law;

FOCA seeks to sweep aside existing, protective laws that I and the majority of Americans support;

FOCA will prevent states from enacting protective measures in the future.

The FightFOCA petition will be sent to key Members of Congress upon the re-introduction of the Freedom of Choice Act in the 111th Congress.

Glasses

I guess my age really is catching up with me. I never thought of myself as old...but with my back giving out, my knees aching all the time - and now, I can't see - I sure do feel like an old maid!Me and Taylor had our eye checkup this afternoon, and I knew my vision had gotten a little worse than last year, but I wasn't expecting to get a prescription today, and then the girl asked me if I had thought about a style yet? I'm really clueless about the whole thing, I have trouble keeping up with what near & far sighted mean, and if you asked me what my vision is, I couldn't tell you. I did find a cute pair of glasses, but I'm having a little trouble making a 2 year committment to them. This is going to be so difficult, a lot harder than what I thought picking glasses out would be, I'm so indecisive!

Crazy Hair (part 2)

Taylor said he got a lot of comments on his hair yesterday at school...Is that your real hair? How'd you get it to stay up like that? Can I touch it? And it did stay up like that all day! He would wear his hair like that everyday if i'd be crazy enough to just let him. Anyway, I just had to post some pictures of Natalie and her crazy hair from the other day. I was bored the other night, waiting on Derrick and the boys to get home. It's so fun playing dress up with her! She actually sat still while I put all these rubberbands in her hair, which is ODD because she doesn't like me fixing it for church on Sunday's.
(I think she favors my big sister a little in this picture when she was younger.)

Last updated...When?

I was looking at some of your blogs earlier, and my link says last updated like 2 weeks ago....so sad. It seems so hard for me to keep up with this thing! I had my first day of physical therapy today for my back, the doctor wants me to try this twice a week for 4 weeks. Somehow or another they managed to slip this in as a week that doesn't count, so I guess I'm going to be going 5 weeks now. And I get homework exercises - my assignment until I go back...lay on my stomach, then prop up on my elbows for a few minutes. Not too bad, huh! I can live with that, I just won't be doing that one at work though.

Our first Potty story!

We're not trying to push potty on her right now, just trying to familiarize her with it in hopes that it might make it a little easier down the road. But the other night I sat Natalie on the "potty" just to see what she would do, it was so funny, she got really quite, started looking from side to side, then looked at me and just started laughing. I got her down and that was the end of it. Yesterday morning when we got up, I noticed that her diaper was dry so I took her straight to the bathroom and plopped her on the potty. She sat there for about a minute and then finally used it. She didn't know what to think. This evening when I got home, we were in the bathroom, I flushed, she started waving saying"bye bye" then turned around and started backing herself up to the potty as if to try and sit on it. I just thought it was too cute. So tonight before bathtime, I thought I would see if she wanted to sit, she had a little jello pudding cup in her hand and as soon as i took her diaper off, she threw the cup in the potty, so while i'm fishing around trying to get the cup, I hear something on the floor! I tried to hurry and get her on the potty, but it was too late! I guess I deserved it!

Catching up

Our Monday night dinner and tonight's dinner turned out very good! Tonight we had the chicken pockets, it's kinda like chicken salad, little bit different, and it's stuffed and baked in a crescent roll that's dipped in melted butter and rolled in bread crumbs. It's definetly a keeper! If I can find some time, I'll try to post some recipes. Right now, I'm working on getting mine organized. I made myself a template for a recipe card so I could type them out and make them look all pretty, but I can't even find the time to type them out. Anyway...

Tomorrow is mine and Derrick's Third anniversay. It doesn't seem like it, and if you would have asked me about 5 years ago about getting married and so on, I would have told you no way - not me! I can have people vouch for me on that too! But, Derrick just swept me off of my feet, had me blinded by love. I couldn't ask for a better husband! Tomorrow we'll be having lunch at Olive Garden! Yummy Yum!!

Home Cooking

I wanted to share with you all this website I came across while surfing the net looking for some recipes for "one-dish" meals, www.backofthebox.com, I have fell in love with it. I'm still adding to my recipe collection as I type, they sound like some really good dishes and I can't wait to try them out! Saturday I spent the most part of the day doing the "once a month cooking" for the first time, well a condensed version for 11 days worth, I had a good time doing it and am looking forward to seeing how they turned out. Today we had the "Joe's to Go" (a tasty version of sloppy jo's), I had it thawing out it the fridge overnight, and when we got home from church all I had to do was throw it in the microwave and serve. Just a matter of minutes! We were all finished eating a homecooked meal by 1:10pm! Tomorrow night we'll be trying the cheesy corn casserole, i'll let you know how it turned out. I feel really good about having done this for the family, even though Derrick says I don't have to cook everynight and he doesn't expect it, and even though I know the kids will complain about the onions and green peppers and all those other good things incorporated into it. But I say it's better than a Hot Pocket or corndog every night. Maybe they will appreciate it when they get older and out of the house, I know that I did about my mom. I loved our home cooked meals.

TAG - 6 Random Things about ME

1) I love to smell things and my absolute favorite thing to smell is books!

2) I love cooking, finding new recipes and trying them out. I wish I had time to do it every night of the week!

3) I do not like for other people to touch or take food off of my plate, or ask for “a little bite/taste”. (Unless I offer it to you first)

4) I would like to go back to school, sometime, maybe – would love to do something with photography, food, or maybe hair, or do some type of children’s education (home day care – when Derrick builds my sunroom)

5) I was a “tomboy” growing up, loved to play football and play in the woods; I would chase and beat up the boys – my nickname use to be “Muscles”.

6) I do not like for people to touch/squeeze my nose - Natalie loves to do this to me, and thinks its funny, but it makes me cringe!

You never let go!

While on my way to work this morning listening to K-Love I heard this really good song that blessed my heart and gave me what I needed to hear this morning. Well, while looking for the song lyrics, this song below by Matt Redmen came up instead. I started reading the lyrics and while I have heard this song over and over again on the radio and pretty much became immune to it, I had never paid attention to the words and took them in. I just wanted to share it with all of you. (Now all you’ll have to do is figure out the melody.)

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
Your perfect love is casting out fear
And even when I’m caught in the middle of the storms of this life
I won’t turn back I know You are near

And I will fear no evil For my God is with me
And if my God is with me Whom then shall I fear?
Whom then shall I fear?

Oh no, You never let go
Through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, You never let go
In every high and every low
Oh no, You never let go
Lord, You never let go of me

And I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
A glorious light beyond all compare
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes We’ll live to know You here on the earth

Yes, I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes Still I will praise You, still I will praise You

IE problems

Not sure what's going on with IE, but I've deleted background after background, and other html stuff, but it didn't fix anything. So I went back and added my stuff back. It seems to be working fine on MozFox. I can't seem to pull up Michelle or Annette's blog on IE either. Weird. Maybe it will be back up before I get back from the Beach. I will still try to post pics on my Flickr.

Beach

This will be my last post before leaving for the beach tomorrow morning, I thought I would change my background in honor of it. Now when you guys visit my sight this coming week you'll feel like you were right along with us at the beach..I'll get some pics on here sometime this week! We'll miss y'all

Sunshine and Baby Blues

Sunshine...That's all i see for for next week when we go to the beach. Yeah, two more days until we leave!! Please pray for Natalie though, she has been running a fever off and on since Tuesday, hopefully it's only teething related and nothing more. Her other front tooth is finally starting to show through, no more snaggletooth. Today I had to pick her up from school because her temperature, she's feeling a little better now since I got some tylenol in her. I hope this passes, we don't won't to be at the beach with a sick one.

For those of you who are Harry Potter fans, if you haven't already seen it,the teaser trailer came out yesterday for the next movie, me and Taylor pulled it up on Yahoo and watched it - looks very very good. The books are always better than the movies, so there's still time to read it (by Nov 21). We can't wait to see it.

I changed it!!

I changed my background, yea!! And added music!! Wow, does this mean I'm a pro yet Michelle?

Taylor introduced me to this comedian, Tim Hawkins, that his "Uncle" portrayed at a church function a while back. He is hillarious, and on God Tube, so it's clean - this skit he does about the playground is too funny! We all laughed our heads off about this. Check it out. (be sure to turn the music off at the bottom)

To My Surprise…

Yesterday was my 33rd birthday, and to say the least it was my best one yet. Natalie decided to wake us up early, say 3:45am, and squirm around in our bed for an hour until I finally had to put her early birthday wishes to me to an end and took her upstairs to her bed. After finally getting back to sleep I’m awakened by Derrick, Taylor and Natalie (Kameron was out of town) at the bedside with cards and presents. Caffe Latte anyone? Well that’s what I got, in the form of a Vera Bradley Little Betsy and Wallet. Derrick had also placed some packs of M&M’s (love them) in a few different places for me and a bag of kisses. Derrick took me to lunch at Olive Garden that afternoon. After work, I got Natalie, went to the house and waited on the boys to get home from Karate so I could go to our Ladies Meeting at church. I was told last Monday that we were going to have cupcakes at the meeting for my birthday. I got there, and there were no cupcakes in the room, just a few sodas sitting on the table, and about everyone told me Happy Birthday, but I never heard anyone mention cupcakes or staying after to get any, so I just thought I wasn’t getting any. (I did have some selfish thoughts but then got convicted because so far our classes have been on seeking god, humility & repentance.) So after class on the way out, I finally heard some mention of cupcakes and saw some ladies heading towards the other building. To my surprise when I opened the door, there were a lot more people there than just those in my meeting, plus cake, food & balloons. My sweet husband had been scheming up this little surprise party for about a week and I do tell you, I was very surprised! I’d never had a surprise birthday party before. It was so much fun! So thank you to everybody who made this birthday extra special for me.

"McSteamy"

I had looked for a food steamer at Walmart about a month ago and saw on the isle that something I already had could be used as one, so I ceased my search, came home and it turned out that we had either given it away or sold it at our yard sale. Couple of weeks ago, I happen to be at Carolina Thrift where I found a brand new Steam Cuisine by T-Fal that had never been used or opened, and the best part it was only $9.99. (They usually go for around $30-50). So today for lunch I tried it out and cooked (all at one time)corn on the cob, broccoli and carrots. This thing actually saved me a lot of trouble and time in the kitchen and the food actually came out really good, at least Derrick and I thought so, Taylor said he tried the broccoli and didn't like it, but what 12 year old likes it anyway? I'm going to try to start using my new steamer pretty often, so if any of you have any ideas (besides fish) that I can try other than the basic vegetables, I'd love to get some feedback.

Good to be home

I got back yesterday afternoon from my board trip, even though it was only one day/night, i'm so glad to be back. My friend/coworker and I went to the outlets while we were there and before then I had never been in a "Coach" store, but since she is a collector we stopped in to look around. I found a pocket book the only thing was it cost more than our car payment, plus I didn't want to get a phone call from home telling me that Derrick had fell out after looking at the online banking. These pocket books on sale still go fo $90. I just can't do it.

Here are my results from the kind of shoe I am.

Update

Well, I have updated my blog......I'm getting so bad about this.

We celebrated Natalie's first birthday last weekend. This past year with her has just been amazing, just over the past few weeks now, she has changed so much. Her appearance, her babbling, and of all things, she's now walking all over the house. She is just so grown up now and believe me she acts the part too!!

19 more days till we go on vacation....I can't wait! I'm so ready to get away from our fast paced life for at least a week. We run so much between work and the kids, it will be so nice to get somewhere for a week and not have to go or do anything, no running around, just relax...or try to while keeping up with the kids.

Coming Soon??

I'm trying out Blogger for a little while to see if I like this better than where I'm currently at.
